Nas Speaks On Amy Winehouse: “It’s Bittersweet”
Lioness: Hidden Treasures, Amy Winehouse‘s first volume of posthumous music, features just two guest appearances: legendary crooner Tony Bennett and Amy’s hip-hop soulmate, Nas.
The latter duo had both a musical and emotional connection, made even more poignant by the fact they share the same birthday (September 14). In the promotional video below, a somber Nas reminisces on his “crazy twin” and how she was introduced to him in 2004 via their mutual producer, Salaam Remi. He speaks on her sense of humor, how “music came so easy” to her, her genuine demeanor and bittersweet memories of working together on the track “Like Smoke.”
Lioness is a masterpiece collection of Amy’s work; a reminder of how iconic her voice is and how bright her future could have been. “Like Smoke” is an album highlight—be sure to listen below.
