Under Armour Strikes A Major Sneaker Deal With The NBA
We’ve told you in the past about how much we really enjoy the new “Are You From Here?” commercials from Under Armour. They make UA look like serious competition for Nike, adidas, and Reebok. And recently, the sportswear/sneaker company made things official by striking a deal with the National Basketball Association—a move that will no doubt make some waves throughout the league.
So, how exactly will this deal help UA? Well, most importantly, it will allow them to use NBA uniforms in all of their commercials from now on. So, if they’re shooting something with, say, Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks or Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves, they can use the Bucks and Timberwolves official NBA jerseys in their commercials. It seems small, but this is major for UA. Now, when people watch their commercials, they’ll be able to tell that they are for NBA players and not just generic basketball players.
This is also a big deal for UA because it proves that they are serious about being power players in the pros. They’ve been dominant in the National Football League for the last few years and people who watch football know their logo. And now basketball fans will, too. NBA players will no doubt start to recognize UA as well and we expect more high-profile players to agree to work with the company in the future.
Basically, this deal between UA and the NBA has the potential to be a real gamer-changer. If you were still skeptical about buying a pair of Under Armour sneakers, we have a feeling you won’t be in a few years. With their name now firmly entrenched in the NBA culture, UA is starting to become a trusted name in the world of pro basketball. So…are you ready to buy your first pair of UA basketball sneaks? Something tells us it won’t be long before you are.
