Chris Paul Sports A Pair Of Jordan XI “Concords” On His First Day With The Los Angeles Clippers
Welcome to Los Angeles, Chris Paul! On Thursday afternoon, CP3 touched down in the City of Angels to hold court with the L.A. press, talk about the trade that sent him from the New Orleans Hornets to the Clippers, and to show off how he’s going to raise the profile of the Jordan Brand even more now that he’s playing in a big market! And he did so by showing up in a pair of Air Jordan XI “Concord” sneakers.
So we thought we’d take this opportunity to point exactly how CP3 is going to change the game on more than just the court now that he’s with the Clippers. As we just mentioned, he’s also going to help improve the visibility of the Jordan Brand dramatically simply because he’s going to get a lot more attention than he used to get. It’s one reason it was a little bit surprising to hear that Michael Jordan—the guy who is obviously behind Air Jordans—was one of the owners who opposed CP3 being traded to L.A. His company will ultimately benefit from this, so you’d think he’d want CP3 in L.A.
How will it benefit the brand? Well, for starters, Paul will likely be shown on ESPN’s SportsCenter every single night of the NBA season throwing lobs to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. That in and of itself is huge because every time they see Paul, they’ll see him sporting his Jordans. Secondly, CP3 will now get to play on national TV more than he did before. And, lastly, there will no doubt be a rush to make CP3 posters and other pieces of memorabilia for Clippers fans (we see all 8 of you out there! Ha!) to buy. Those pieces will feature Paul sporting Jordans. CP3 will also likely make his way to more events now, too, which will only heighten his popularity and put him front and center in the hearts and minds of a lot of sports fans.
Because of that, we say Paul’s move to L.A. is great for the Jordan Brand. Everybody is already sweating dude’s sneakers. And we only expect things to get crazier once the season starts.
