Floyd Mayweather Jr is headed to jail on domestic violence charges and for boxing fans, this ultimately means his predicted fight with longtime nemesis Manny Pacquiao faces yet another delay.

“Money Mayweather” has been sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to reduced domestic violence battery and harassment charges and must report to jail on January 6. He was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine.

According to the LA Times, the plea deal avoids trial on felony allegations that he hit his ex-girlfriend and threatened two of their children during an argument at her home in September 2010.

As Mayweather serves his time, boxing pundits will be planning for the much-hyped fight between him and Pacquiao. Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, has said the fight should now take place in June (basically as soon as Mayweather is out) and that he’s even looking into building a special 45,000-seat venue on the Vegas Strip especially for it.
