Is It Time For The Return Of Judge Mablean?
If you’ve kept up with the countless courtroom-based TV shows that have arisen over the years (or watched a number of Tyler Perry movies), you’re familiar with Judge Mablean Ephriam, the original face of TV’s Divorce Court. Fox released a statement at the end of her stint on the show, saying that she had decided to step down – a claim that she adamantly disputes.
Truthfully, she wanted to come back but she wanted a bigger raise so that she would earn about the same amount that other television judges were making at the time, and Fox didn’t want to pay up.
Ephriam was consequently replaced with Judge Lynn Toler and while she does a fine job, things are just not the same in this author’s opinion – even though it’s been five years. 2012 may prove to be the year of the comeback for Judge Mablean as she says she’s been hearing from many viewers who want her back.
“People are calling me and sending me emails asking how can they get me back on ‘Divorce Court’ and get rid of the other lady,” she said. “And I say I don’t know, but you should start a campaign and see what happens. The ratings are down right now, and I’m ready to come back if Fox is ready to have me back.”
She believes that she and Fox can reach an agreement and says that she really doesn’t have any obligations that would stand in her way.
“I have no obligations, all my children are adults, the grandchildren are in school or about to graduate from school, I’m a single woman – so I have nothing holding me back. I’m ready to roll.”
No campaigns have been launched to date, but it may be too early to rule out the beloved judge yet. Do you watch Divorce Court? If so, do you miss Judge Mablean?
