A Kentucky Man Tried To Use A Fake $1 Million Bill At A Walmart

You have got to be kidding us! We’ve heard our fair share of stories about idiotic people trying to use counterfeit $20 bills and fake checks to buy things at retail stores. We’ve also heard stories about stupid criminals trying to rob stores in the most moronic ways possible. But now we can officially say that we’ve heard it all.

In Lexington, Kentucky, a man walked into a Walmart recently to pick up a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven, and some other merchandise totaling $476. He then walked up to the cash register, pulled out his wallet, and tried to pay the cashier—with a 1 million dollar bill. Yes, you read that right. Dude pulled out a cool milli to try and pay off a $476 bill at Walmart. And when the cashier laughed and told him that he couldn’t use it, he gave her a hard time and insisted that the bill in question was real.

After some arguing, the Walmart cashier called his manager who called police. The man was then charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretense and uttering a forged instrument, which are both felonies. On a warrant for the man’s arrest, the police officer who responded to the call wrote, “There is no such thing,” in reference to the million-dollar bill. And the man was held for a night in jail with his bond set at $17,500—an amount which, thankfully, he didn’t try to pay off with a large, fake bill. “It is kind of strange,” a local police officer said of the case.

Um, ya think? Are times really that bad for folks out there? We know the economy sucks. We know people are struggling to make ends meet. And we know that not everyone is blessed enough to have an extra $476 laying around to pay for some household items. But has it gotten so bad that people are straight-up just making things up to try and get over on people? Or, was the guy in this situation a special case? All we know is that if $1 million bills did exist, dudes wouldn’t be carrying them around in their wallets. And they wouldn’t be spending them at Walmart. Nice try, though, buddy. Er, we guess.
