Although she allegedly asked Russell Brand to file for divorce, Katy Perry is said to be heartbroken over the demise of her marriage. Reportedly, the pop star has leaned on her good friend Rihanna in the days since news of her impending divorce was made public. The duo is supposedly even planning a girls-only getaway at some point this month “so Katy can clear her head.” A source told the Daily Mirror:

“Rihanna has been there for Katy, texting her from Miami where she’s on holiday. Now they are planning a girlie getaway so Katy can clear her head.”

Allegedly, the biggest source of friction in Katy and Russell’s marriage was children – he wanted them now, she did not. The source said:

“Katy is absolutely devastated, but the rows over starting a family had just come to a head. Yes, she had agreed to take a year out to focus on children, but she realised the timing was all wrong. She is too young and does not want to put her music on the back burner while she is on top of her game.”

Unfortunately for Katy, Russell stands to gain a huge payday from the divorce. According to several outlets, the couple did not sign a prenup before they were married, which means the Get Him to the Greek actor could walk away with half of Katy’s fortune when all is said and done under California’s community property laws. The pop star is worth at least $44 million, compared to Russell’s $15 million.

Although it’s only the third day of 2012, I’m going to go ahead and say that Katy and Kobe Bryant will be the biggest losers of the year.
