Tim Tebow Gets Immortalized By Marvel Comics
Tim Tebow has basically turned into a superhero at times during the 2011-12 NFL season. The Denver Broncos will be making a playoff appearance this year solely because of Tebow’s late-game heroics in a number of games. Despite his absolutely awful performance in the last game of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, he’s really brought about a lot of hope for the Broncos over the course of the last three months or so. So then, it’s only right that Tebow get treated like a superhero…right?
Marvel Comics sure thinks so. And recently, they paired up with ESPN to create “Tebow Time,” a series of three drawings of Tebow meant to capture the greatness that he displayed at times this season. Love him or hate him, it was hard to escape Tebow this season and this series of drawings puts that all into perspective. “Like the Marvel heroes who pull off last-minute victories, Tim Tebow has fans around the world on the edge of their seats and believing that—in our own lives—when times is running out and all looks lost, we can dig deep and use our various strengths to triumph over insurmountable odds,” says Bill Rosemann of Marvel Custom Solutions.
Is this taking things a little too far? Yeah, probably. Like we said, Tebow’s horrendous play on Sunday makes us wonder whether or not he’s really the long-term answer in Denver right now. There’s a good chance he might not be the Broncos quarterback next season. But, then again, what we saw from Tebow this season was nothing short of miraculous and his performance during the middle of the season was worthy of being honored by Marvel. When you perform like a superhero, you deserve the superhero treatment. And so, with that in mind, Tim Tebow deserves “Tebow Time.” At least for the time being…
