Gina Carano Is A Sexy Spy In Haywire

If Colombiana and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo have taught us anything, it’s that females who kick butt and solve crimes make for great – albeit not necessarily box-office successful unless your name is Angelina Jolie – heroes.

Maybe the third time will be a charm for Haywire, an upcoming spy film about covert operative Mallory Kane, played by the gorgeous Women’s MMA fighter Gina Carano. Kane is a freelancer, working for various governments and agencies on top secret missions unknown even to heads of state. While completing back-to-back missions, she realizes that she has been set up as the subject of an international manhunt.

The film, directed by Steven Soderbergh, was shot mostly in Ireland and may very well prove quite the star vehicle for Carano, featuring a veteran cast of talented actors including Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, and Channing Tatum (who gets the you know what kicked out of him in this latest trailer).

The author has a thing for women in charge, so hopefully the box office responds well to this one. Haywire will be released to theaters January 20.

All “Columbiana” taught us was there are people out there who think that particular presentation (ex. heavy usage of jump cuts) is for style purpose and not to hide the fact that Zoe Saldana (as great as she is in all other ways) cannot perform the action.
