As anticipated, there is a new downloadable pack for Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 3 on the way. Two exciting online multiplayer maps are revealed in the kick off video below. New features and gameplay are hinted at as an evolutionary change to adapt to the modern day COD community.

So far only two maps are announced; Piazza and Liberation. Piazza is based on Italy and looks like an awesome map for running and gunning with quick turns in a city landscape. Liberation is based on New York’s Central Park with more of a strategic approach for snipers and long shots.

The release date is January 24, 2012 for Xbox COD Elite Premium members. As usual, Xbox 360 gets the downloadable content about a month before PS3 and PC. However there’s still a bit of confusion on who gets what first. One of Swords spells it out well: “I see five audiences: Xbox 360 Elite Premium, Xbox 360 general public, PS3 Elite, PS3 general public, and PC.”

Xbox 360 Elite Premium is supposed to get it before the Xbox 360 general public. Xbox gets it before PS3 & PC. PS3 Elite gets it before PS3 general public. This chain-of-demand schedule is a McFlurry as of now, but final release dates for all audiences are expected to be announced soon.
