Check Out The First Five Minutes Of Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire

As Chris J noted, Gina Carano looks amazing in the upcoming action thriller, Haywire. And now, the studio has released the complete first five minutes (supposedly) of the film.

All lot of the footage has appeared already in the trailers, but we can get a better sense of the whole context here.

(NSFW language and violence)

I was impressed with this clip’s fly-on-the-wall feel. Up until the fight, the pace was practically slow, letting us take in the almost silly tension of Tatum and Carano’s meeting. And when the punches started to fly, there was no hip-hop or Nu Metal soundtrack to force attitude; instead, the crack of bones and thud of blows provides all the soundtrack needed.

In other footage available so far, the MMA star (and former American Gladiator!) seems to hold her own against some serious Hollywood heavyweights, including Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas, and Channing Tatum. Helmed by acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, The Ocean’s Eleven movies), this clearly isn’t your typical shoot-em-up story.

What do you think? Are you psyched for Haywire?
