Coming Soon: Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds
Tyler Perry is stepping outside of his bread and butter character Madea, the gun-toting, scripture misquoting Grandma that audiences nationwide have fallen in love with. In his upcoming film Good Deeds, Perry stars as Wesley Deeds, a wealthy businessman who has always done what he was ‘supposed to do’ instead of being bold enough to make his own decisions.
The film finds Deeds preparing to marry his fiancee, played by Gabrielle Union, when he has a chance encounter with one of the cleaning ladies at his office building (played by Thandie Newton, who is basically getting her Pursuit of Happyness on again). He decides to help the struggling woman get back on her proverbial feet, a choice which changes his attitude and causes him to seek true happiness instead of doing what comes easiest and is most beneficial to himself.
Featuring Rebecca Romijn, Brian White, Jamie Kennedy, Eddie Cibrian, and Phylicia Rashad, the movie promises to be a feel-good, heart warming romantic comedy and seems as if it will play out like Seven Pounds without the suicide and depression.
We can’t tell from the trailer, but do you think Tyler Perry will leave Gabby Union for Thandie Newton? Find out when Good Deeds is released to theaters on February 24.
