A Dedication To Golden Globe Winner Idris Elba
As I sat on my couch watching him as Jill Scott‘s sexy male accomplice during her BET Awards performance last year, I was mesmerized enough to tweet the words, “Idris Elba should be a crime.” Minutes later my TweetDeck application almost melted from my followers and their friends’ reaction and by the end of the night, I’d received almost a thousand retweets from ravenous ladies (and a few gents) who agreed with me.
Last night Elba, 39, won a well-deserved Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for BBC mini-series Luther and if the world wasn’t aware of his talents before, they certainly are now. The actor and DJ born Idrissa Akuna “Idris” Elba has starred in both British and American productions but came to fame here in the U.S. primarily for his breakout role as drug mastermind Stringer Bell in HBO’s The Wire. He followed that up with more television, including an hilarious stint on The Office, and big-budget movies like Thor. He’s currently filming Guillermo del Toro‘s big, ambitious, monster versus robot movie, Pacific Rim and working on new music.
Not only is Elba a screen talent, he’s obviously very easy on the eyes (he’s been dubbed Denzel Washington‘s heir apparent in the next generation of leading men). Check out our photo gallery below:
