The Real Housewives of Atlanta Star Cynthia Bailey Launches A Model Search

Submitted by on January 16, 2012 – 1:59 pm4 Comments

This season on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey started her own business, The Bailey Agency School of Fashion—partially because her expiration date as a model is fast approaching and partially because her husband, Peter Thomas, can’t seem to keep any of his business ventures open without getting a loan from his wife.  But shortly after the supermodel opened the doors at her fashion school, she realized the pickings were quite slim in Atlanta. So it should come as no surprise to hear that the RHOA star is launching a five-city model search.

“I feel like the South has less access to the possibilities of getting discovered by scouts,” Cynthia said recently.  “It was very difficult for me getting discovered. I really didn’t have a lot of information about the business, and I definitely didn’t have any real access to figure out how to get into the business.”

The search for young talent (ages 13 and up) will begin in Cynthia’s hometown of Birmingham, AL before moving on to Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, Jackson, MS, New Orleans, and back to Atlanta.

Model Search 2012 cities and dates are as follows:

January 2012 – Birmingham, AL
February 2012 – Charlotte, NC
March 2012 – Nashville, TN
April 2012 – Jackson, MS
April 2012 – New Orleans, LA
May 2012 – Atlanta, GA

“It’ll be a two-day seminar,” Cynthia says about her model search format. “The first day will be the model search. For that day, we’re just booking for someone who has the look of what it takes to be a model. The second day is the seminar process, and they will get an opportunity to talk to industry professionals—photographers, bookers, agents, hairstylists, makeup artists.”

One finalist from each city will compete in Atlanta for the ultimate prize: a $10,000 cash reward, a contract with a model agency, and a photo shoot with celebrity photographer Derek Blanks. “If I hadn’t had the ambition and the courage to leave my little, small city in Alabama and go to New York City, I think my life would have been very different,” Cynthia admits. “I know that one choice led me to where I’m at right now.”

Good luck!

  • Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell
and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She
placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic
