Jean Paul Gaultier Designs Solid Gold Bars For No Good Reason
From gold bras to gold bars, Jean Paul Gaultier has a heart of gold. And now you can, too.
The over-the-top French designer has teamed up with Dallas-based company Dillon Gage Metals to design bars of solid gold, for no other reason than, well, because he can. “Never before has a fashion icon designed a gold ingot,” explained Dillon Gage president Terry Hanlon. “The Gaultier bar is a one-of-a-kind, limited-quantity collector’s piece that not only is a great investment but it will also become a piece of history. The price of gold has risen more than fivefold in the last 10 years, outperforming almost every other investment. The Gaultier one-ounce bar is the perfect Valentine’s Day, birthday or graduation gift for someone special.”
Created as “a fashionable way for investors to diversify holdings and hedge against inflation,” the 24k bar emblazoned with Gaultier’s logo will sell for 10 percent above market value meaning that a bar that is worth $1,640 will sell for $1,826.33, not including a $25 handling fee for your order. Only 5,000 bars will be made adding to its’ exclusivity.
Forget about a diamond ring or some cool earrings. Are you hoping your sweetie gives you a gold bar this Valentine’s Day?
