Okay, so this piece of news isn’t specifically about sneakers. But it’s definitely going to affect what you do with your sneakers. So to all of the folks out there who just bought a new pair of running shoes—we see all of you out there making New Year’s resolutions and actually sticking to them!—listen up. After launching a #makeitcount campaign that was shrouded in mystery for a few weeks, Nike has finally released news about their latest piece of technology that is guaranteed to change the way you move. It’s called the Nike+ Fuelband and it’s been designed to help you track your calories, hit your workout goals, and lead you towards a healthy new lifestyle—regardless of whether you’re a dedicated gym rat or just someone who wants to shed a few pounds for the new year.

So, how does it work? Well, according to Nike, pretty easily. All you need to do is wear the Nike+ Fuelband throughout the day and it’ll do all the work for you. It’ll track the calories that you put into your body, show you how many of those calories you burn off simply by walking around, working, and going to gym, and allow you to set realistic goals and monitor them throughout any given day. Thanks to the handy iPhone app that Nike’s developed, you can keep an eye on all of these aspects of your life and make adjustments accordingly to improve your overall health and get the most out of your day. Basically, Nike is trying to prove their motto “Life is a Sport” with the Fuelband. By simply going about your day and keeping a close eye on what you eat and what you do, they say that you’ll see a real difference.

The Nike+ Fuelband isn’t on the market just yet. But it is available for preorder now and will hit stores on February 22. It’ll be priced at $150, which we realize is sort of steep, but it’s a very reasonably-priced gadget when you compare it to other similar training devices. So, what do you think about it?
