Vera Wang Is Set To Launch Her “Black By Vera Wang” Menswear Collection
What do Vera Wang and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino have in common?
On the surface, it would appear that the Chinese-American bridal designer and the fist-pumping Italian Jersey Shore reality star would be as different as night and day. But it seems the polar opposites paths just might cross.
Just weeks after the Sitch debuted his new line of tuxedos with the help of Flow Formalwear, Vera announced that she, too, would expand her wedding fashion empire and foray into menswear. Ironically enough, she’ll be collaborating on it with Flow Formalwear, the same manufacturer behind lines by Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Joseph Abboud and the Jersey Shore alum. Black by Vera Wang is scheduled to hit Men’s Wearhouses all over the United States in late spring 2012. It will offer men involved in weddings and other special occassions a plethora of formal wear looks just like Vera’s White by Vera Wang collection—which is the premier provider of gorgeous wedding gowns at David’s Bridal—does for women.
Men’s Wearhouse CEO Doug Ewert plans to use Vera’s visiblitity in front of brides as a vehicle to get his tuxedos in front of the fellas. “The bride is the decision-maker,” Ewert said. “The first thing that a girl does when she gets engaged is start shopping for a dress. And we will get in front of her very early in the process.” Men, however, will have the option to rent their bridal garb with prices for a tux starting at $219.99.
