Kids Have The Power In Chronicle
How many movies have come out about super powers? In the past few years, we’ve seen more comic book heroes take the silver screen than we’d like to count. Many made that particular transition very successfully, others completely crashed and burned. Enter Chronicle, a film that puts classic teenage angst on an epic scale by pairing it with supernatural abilities.
Here’s how the story goes. Three high school teenagers discover a mysterious crater. As they explore the crater, they find that they have developed superhuman capabilities including invulnerability, telekinesis, and flight. At first like most teenagers would they use these powers for random acts of mischief and for their own personal gain.
At this point, you’re probably thinking that they decide to use their powers for the common good. You’d be wrong. One of the teens decides to take a turn down the dark and evil path, leaving his friends afraid and confused. From there, they’ve got to decide what to do. Stop him or join him?
It looks like they’ll try to stop him, but that kid Andrew has definitely gone crazy. It looks like it should have a fair mix of comedy before it gets to the drama, and may make for a sleeper hit of a film.
Chronicle hits theaters February 3, 2012.
