Look at the picture of the above guy and guess what crime he committed. If somehow you guessed that Tyree Lincoln Smith was an axe murderer who ate parts of his victim, then I owe you one million dollars.

In a story that is about as far out there as they come for black folks, the 35-year-old Smith was arrested in Lynn Haven, Fla. on a warrant for the murder of 43-year-old Angel Gonzalez. Yeah, we know crimes happen all of the time, but this one is out of this world. You see, Gonzalez’s horribly decomposed body was found in an abandoned apartment on Jan. 20. Apparently, this crime happened a month prior and his death was caused by blunt trauma to the head.

Now this is where things get a little strange.

Smith allegedly confessed the murder to his cousin, Nicole Rabb, in gruesome detail. According to the arrest warrant, Smith killed Gonzalez with a hatchet sometime in December after Gonzalez found Smith sleeping outside in the cold. Gonzalez invited Smith into his home and was then attacked with an axe. Smith then told his cousin that the damage to Gonzalez’ head was “so severe that he was able to remove an eye from the man’s head along with pieces of brain matter and a piece of his skull.” The arrest warrant reads that Smith took the organs to Lakeview Cemetery and then he “ate the eyeball, which tasted like an oyster, and the brain matter.”

What?

During this far out confession, Smith referred to the Greek gods and called his cousin “Athena,” the goddess of war and justice. Smith was apprehended on Tuesday while staying with a woman who had no idea what Smith had done. She cooperated with police nonetheless.

What makes a man confess to his cousin that he ate another man’s brain matter? We don’t know. Hopefully his cousin is telling the truth. It makes you wonder how people in this world are that sick in the head. Scary stuff.
