Love It! The Air Jordan 2012 Will Be Available On NIKEiD On Valentine’s Day

Last week, I was a little bit critical of the price of the new Air Jordan 2012 sneakers. For what you’re paying for them—upwards of $223—you don’t get a whole lot of bang for your buck. In fact, I’d venture to say that the sneakers are very underwhelming for how much you have to pay for them. Older Jordans offer a nostalgic feel. Foamposites offer a lot of color and a unique design. The LeBron 9s look like a ton of thought and detail went into them. The Air Jordan 2012s are just, well, boring. They’re way too plain-looking to be going for as much as they are.

At the very least, though, the Jordan Brand is wasting no time in getting the Air Jordan 2012 onto NIKEiD. It’ll be available on the site on Valentine’s Day—February 14th for you slow pokes out there—and you’ll be able to customize the Air Jordan 2012 in a variety of different colors if you log onto the site. Want to make your AJ 2012s Carolina blue? Done. Want to add leather to a particular part of the sneaker? You got it. Want a translucent sole? You can do that through NIKEiD. You’ll get a ton of different options and you can even select one of the performance sockliners that have been designed for the Air Jordan 2012.

I’m still not a huge fan of shelling out a couple hundred bucks for a pair of sneakers that were created for a guy who’s not even playing in the NBA anymore. But, if I was forced to buy a pair of these, I’d definitely go the NIKEiD route. So make sure you check for them on Tuesday. In the meantime, check out a few of the Air Jordan 2012 mockups below.
