Rihanna and Chris Brown have everyone talking once again.

The former lovebirds, whose acrimonious split three years ago (Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault after violently abusing Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards) made shock waves throughout the world, are apparently on more than just speaking terms.

“Girl I wanna f*ck you right now been a long time, I’ve been missing your body,” Chris sings on the remix of Rihanna’s “Birthday Cake,” released yesterday on her 24th birthday. Ri Ri replies with, “Remember how you did it/If you still wanna kiss it/Then come and get it.” She’s also returned the favor, showing up on the remix of Chris’s new track “Turn Up The Music.”

The disturbing duo started following each other on Twitter (tweeting cryptic things about each other), were seen partying in the same clubs and rumors of a real reunion kept tongues wagging in recent months. Rihanna especially (she tweeted yesterday that Jersey Shore‘s Snooki was her “soul mate,” which explains something about her recent behavior) seems to be getting a kick out of everyone’s concern regarding their reunion, tweeting up a storm to naysayers and getting her tough girl on with Rick Ross-inspired lines like “F*ck a blog dog, ’cause one day we gon’ meet.”

When it comes to the two young pop stars, everyone has an opinion on whether or not they should be in contact again after it was proven Chris savagely beat his ex-girlfriend that fateful night. Whatever your stance on the issues may be, it might be a lesson for us all that (fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) people are going to do what they want to do. This pertains to forgiveness, self-respect and plain smarts, and is regardless of lessons from the past and possible advice from family and friends. In Rihanna and Chris’s case, both parties have to live with their decisions and prepare themselves for whatever happens next.
