Male Model Andrej Pejic Lands A Job Modeling Women’s Lingerie
Smart marketing…or semi-creepy?
At first glance the above advertisement looks pretty straight forward: A beautiful woman modeling a push-up bra, right? WRONG! It’s not until you realize that said woman is actually “gender-bender supernova” Andrej Pejic that things start to get interesting. The androgynous 20-year-old landed a new campaign modeling the Mega Push-Up Bra for Dutch chain retailer HEMA, which claims to add two full cup sizes to any frame and make even a flat-chested man appear more curvy.
“It’s revolutionary,” Pejic’s Sydney-based agent, Joseph Tenni, told fashion blog Frockwriter. “I’ve never known a man to do a women’s lingerie campaign before.”
Andrej, who has been a mainstay on the runways of Jean Paul Gaultier and modeling menswear for Marc Jacobs, looks beautiful in the ads. But, is there something weird about a man modeling woman’s lingerie? Or, do the photos of Andrej prove that these bras are that damn good?

There’s absolutely nothing creepy about a transgendered model in this situation, unless you are creeped out by transgendered people, which would speak more about you than them. This is not some cross dressing male with stubble on their face. This is a beautiful feminine person-otherwise they’d never have been asked to market such a product. Kudos to this company for giving a transgendered person a chance to appear in something so normal in society, and slowly breaking the stereotype that all of us out in this world-who are a little different than many-are “creepy”. It’s time the world became secure enough to embrace us as we are- loving, caring and productive members of society.

Actually Andrej isn’t trans – he has said time and again he is just gender neutral =) I think trans is a great thing that people should be supported through, I just needed to correct that – because being androgynous or cross dressing doesn’t mean that you are transgendered. Transgender requires identifying with one or other gender. Gender Neutral is different =) He has just grown up trying on his mum’s and sister’s clothing from a young age and is comfortable in men’s or women’s clothing though he says that women’s clothing fits better so he tends to wear that more often.
