When Rihanna first announced she was a “good girl gone bad” for her third album back in 2007, it felt more like promotional shtick than anything else. Fast forward five years later and the 24-year-old has completed the transition with flying colors.
Stepping out last night in New York City “with her roots showing, a cockeyed facial expression, unflattering baggy men’s jeans and a pair of construction boots” (so eloquently described by TMZ) Ri Ri rocked a braless and see-through mesh top that left little to the imagination.
While the pop star seems increasingly comfortable with her image as a risk-taker and sexually-charged artist, not everyone is happy with the direction her career is headed. Her former religious guide and family friend Bishop Vibert Lowe is said to be worried and is desperate for her to tone down her image. According to The Sun, he said: “A lot of people have been praying for her and hoping that she will drop these bad habits. We feel it’s wrong for her to behave like this. As a young lady she’s not setting a good example. Young people look to her as a mentor, they regard her as an idol and copy her lifestyle. There are people on the island who think she parties way too hard.”
