Is Rick Ross Going To Get His Own Sneaker From Reebok?
It’s pretty well known that Rick Ross loves Air Jordans. He didn’t do it as much at the start of his career. But in the last year or so, he’s sent out pictures of his new Jordans—or Jordans that aren’t even out yet—on an almost weekly basis. It’s clear that he’s got a passion for them. But that passion might die down fairly quickly for Ross, especially now that he’s agreed to an endorsement deal with Reebok.
Now, we know what you’re already thinking. “Rick Ross and…Reebok?!? In an endorsement deal? That guy doesn’t look like he’s worked out a day in his life!” But what you’re hearing is true. Ross, who released a song called “Reebok Back” last year, just inked a deal to join Swizz Beatz over at Reebok. And you’re not necessarily the only one who is surprised about it. Even Reebok’s product manager Damion Presson was a little bit surprised to hear about it back when he heard Ross was running with Reebok.
“I think it was totally unexpected,” he said. “I don’t think anyone expected that and that’s kind of how Swizz operates. He just does things and you’re like, ‘Wow.’ I think the reaction from the building, when the rest of the company heard it was just blown away. He did a song with one of the hottest rappers in the game right now about Reebok. ‘Reebok’s Back.’ I mean, people were blown away.”
They certainly were. And they’re even more surprised now that Ross is officially running with Reebok. So, what does this mean? Will Ross get his own sneaker? His own sneaker line? His own label that distributes sneakers created by MMG? We’ll all have to wait to find out. But, one thing is for sure: Ross won’t be wearing Jordans very much anymore. So, it sounds like he must love getting paid more than he loves wearing Js.
