Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has another MTV reality show to fall back on in case the Jersey Shore franchise ever goes kaput: Celebrity Rehab.

The 29-year-old star reportedly checked himself into rehab recently following a battle with substance abuse. “Mike was in bad shape,” a source told Us Weekly right before he checked into rehab.”When they are not filming, [his Jersey Shore co-stars] really don’t know what he is up to and don’t talk to him at all.”

The star’s rep originally tried to blame his rehab stint simply on exhaustion. “He has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule,” the rep stated before The Situation made an official statement on his blog and confessed to his problem with prescription drugs.

“I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion. I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule,” the reality star wrote. “I appreciate my fans support and love you guys.”

MTV confirmed last Monday that Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Deena Cortese, and Pauly DelVecchio have all signed on for a sixth season of Jersey Shore. But, with Snooki’s pregnancy and Mike’s, well, situation, there’s been no word as to whether or not those two will actually make it back to the Jersey shore next summer.
