NBA.com’s Box Score Says Tim Duncan Was Benched For Being “Old”
We’ve all made jokes about Tim Duncan getting up there in age, but this takes the cake.
The Spurs power forward sat out Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers to rest his weary body. It makes sense considering the frantic schedule that the NBA has had this season after the lockout. Usually, when situations like this arise, a player’s box score will read “DNP – Coach’s Decision.” Well, Spurs coach Greg Popovich turned in his lineup card with something that caught us all off guard.
Initially captured by BlackSportsOnline, Duncan’s line says that the reason he didn’t play was “old.” Yes, “old.” Not a coach’s decision. He was just too old and needed a break. Did NBA.com make a mistake? Nope. That’s what Popovich turned in to NBA.com for his team’s lineup card.
Disrespectful or hilarious?
