Nicki Minaj Delivers Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded
Nicki Minaj‘s second album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded came out today and while fans are raving about it and critics are scratching their heads over its confusing mix of straight rap and bubblegum pop, it’s Nicki who has the final word on the music she’s delivering to the masses.
“I’m gonna do whatever kind of music I want to do. You’re free to not like it. Everybody has an opinion but this new album…when I tell you, I’m not nervous, I’m not fearful,” Minaj told Sway this morning on Shade 45′s morning show. “All of those emotions have left. The stuff I felt on my first album—’are people gonna like me, are people gonna judge me,’ etc—I no longer care. I never thought I’d get to this place so early on in my career where it’s just like yo, I’m having fun!”
While it’s attracting its fair share of criticism (Reuters says Minaj “seems possessed by the evil spirit of Katy Perry” in her pop moments) the album has been an instant international success, hitting the number one position on iTunes in the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland. Minaj is scheduled to appear on BET’s 106 & Park tonight with appearances scheduled for France, the UK and Australia in coming months.
