Q-Tip Signs To Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music Label
Def Jam Records has been making big strides in recent months to redefine its title as hip-hop’s leading label and it looks like they’re not stopping anytime soon.
The company’s CEO Barry Weiss announced this morning that former A Tribe Called Quest frontman Q-Tip is officially joining the G.O.O.D. Music group, a boutique label started by Kanye West and featuring other class acts like John Legend, Common, Big Sean and CyHi Da Prynce.
“I’m excited to be a part of the great iconic Def Jam label,” said Q-Tip in a statement. “I’m humbled to be a part of such a storied history. To reconnect with Barry Weiss is a great thing. As far as G.O.O.D. Music, I’m excited to solidify my working relationship with Kanye, and I look forward to all the opportunities that lie ahead in our partnership. I will do my best to present the most cutting edge music I can.”
Female newcomer Azaelia Banks is also rumored to have joined the roster with an announcement expected in coming weeks.
