Talk about putting the cart before the horse. After over 7 years together and 6 kids (3 adopted and 3 biological), Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are finally engaged!! Rumors that the Hollywood power couple planned to marry have circulated for years, but this time, it’s for real! Brad’s manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, told PEOPLE:

“Yes, it’s confirmed. It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.”

Angelina sparked talk of an engagement on Wednesday when she was photographed sporting a blinged-out new ring on Wednesday while visiting The Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The ring was a collaborative effort between Brad and jeweler Robert Procop, whose rep told The Hollywood Reporter:

“I can confirm that, yes, Robert Procop did indeed design an engagement ring for Angelina Jolie, designed in collaboration with Brad Pitt.”

Elaborating on the design of the ring, the rep for the Beverly Hills-based jeweler added:

“(Brad) wanted every aspect of it to be perfect, so I was able to locate a diamond of the finest quality and cut it to an exact custom size and shape to suit Angelina’s hand. Brad was always heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design evolution. The side diamonds are specially cut to encircle her finger. Each diamond is of the highest gem quality.”

Back in 2005, Brad and Angelina sparked a Hollywood scandal when rumors emerged that the twosome had began an affair after meeting on the set of the blockbuster film Mr. & Mrs. Smith while he was still married to Friends actress, Jennifer Aniston. In March of that year, Jennifer filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Brad and Angelina were seen together with increasing frequency during the summer of 2005, and in January 2006, the duo announced they were pregnant with their first biological child. Perhaps the happiest to hear the news about the impending nuptials are the couple’s children, who Brad’s manager said “are very happy.” Congrats to the entire family!!!
