What would Brigitte Bardot look like if she traveled to Saint Tropez in French preppy style?

Enter the Joseph Altuzzarra capsule collection for J. Crew. Designed by the winner of the Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund, the French designer collaborated with the fashion house for a seven-piece capsule collection as part of his prize.

Known for his plunging necklines, exposed midriffs, and curve-hugging designs, Joseph realized that he would have to tone down his sexy style for a more mainstream audience after working with J. Crew’s creative director Jenna Lyons. “Jenna’s a great friend of mine,” he told The New York Times. “So, having her support throughout this process made the experience all the more amazing. I learned a lot from her and it definitely made me think about clothing in a different way. I was designing for a much larger audience, so I thought about versatility and where women could wear these clothes—like this is a really great first-date dress, this would be good for the beach, you could wear this to pick up your kids. But, I also wanted to bring a certain sexiness to each piece that I’m known for in my own collections.”

Check out the much-anticipated capsule collection from Joseph Altuzarra for J.Crew below available online and at J.Crew’s Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York City now. Are you a fan?
