The New Adidas AdiZero Crazy Light 2 Is The Lightest Basketball Sneaker On The Market

adidas has a pretty good thing going here. For the last year or two, they’ve put a real emphasis on trying to make their shoes lighter than everyone else’s shoes. As a result, they released the adidas AdiZero Crazy Light sneaker awhile back and got some really good feedback for it. Although they’re definitely not the most popular basketball sneaker on the market—I still say adidas needs to find a better way to incorporate their Three Stripes into their sneakers—they have carved out a nice little niche in the sneaker industry and become a favorite of a select group of ballers out there. And adidas isn’t planning to stop serving that group anytime soon.

In late May, adidas will unveil their adidas AdiZero Crazy Light 2 sneaker to the masses. “The adiZero Crazy Light 2 is light done right,” the shoe’s designer Robbie Fuller said earlier this week when adidas showed them off for the first time. “We not only made it lighter, but we made it stronger and more aerodynamic.”

Wait, did he say “lighter“? Yep, that’s right, folks. Weighing in at just 9.5 ounces, the Crazy Light 2 will be even lighter than the original Crazy Light. It’ll also feature the SPRINTFRAME technology that helps provide extreme motion control, added volume in the midsole that’ll give you better support when you strap your feet into them, and the SPRINTWEB layering system that makes these shoes even more aerodynamic than before. But, really, it’s all about the weight with these sneakers. And you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that the Crazy Light 2 sneaker is about 10 percent lighter than the closest competitor.

If you’re a fan of the Crazy Light 2, it’ll drop in five different colorways—including the “Electricty” colorway that adidas showcased during the McDonald’s High School All-American Game this year—on May 24. At $140, they’re not as cheap as some of the other sneakers offered by adidas. But they are lighter than all of them. And that might just make that price very attractive to those of you looking for the lightest sneaker on the market.
