Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan To Attend White House Correspondents Dinner

Fox News, apparently concerned about the nation’s perception of women, will bring two of America’s most prominent role models to the upcoming White House Correspondents Dinner: Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan.

Last month, comedian Louis C.K. withdrew from hosting the event after Fox News host Greta Van Susteren called him a “pig” who denigrates women. Clearly seeking to highlight public figures who instead uplift women, Van Susteren invited LiLo as her guest to the annual gala, which indeed always brings together a colorful mix of Hollywood celebrities and political elites for one of Washington’s more lighthearted nights. Kardashian will share a table with Lohan, attending as a guest of Fox News itself; Kim is no stranger to the event though, having attended last year as a guest of- yep- Greta Van Susteren.

I’m not sure this is what Democratic activist (and Nancy Pelosi daughter) Christine Pelosi meant in the wake of C.K.’s departure when she tweeted, “… now DC media should lift up #women as guests & hosts.” Conservative activist (and John McCain daughter) Meghan McCain tweeted incredulously, “Let me get this straight Greta Van Susteren is bringing Lindsay Lohan to the WHC Dinner but has a moral offense to Louie C.K?”

Asked about her decision to invite Lohan, Van Susteren said, “I love comebacks, and I’d like her to succeed.”

But will new host Jimmy Kimmel share this supportive attitude? With two of the nation’s biggest tabloid punchlines in the room, it might be tough to avoid a few shots. Here are some suggestions:

-”Kim Kardashian’s marriage lasted 72 days, or as Congress calls it, a solid year of work.”

-”Congress’ approval ratings are at historic lows. You’d think they divorced Kris Humphries.’”

-”Lindsay Lohan has had a tough year of criminal troubles and rumored substance abuse- and has just been appointed to head the GSA.”

-”There’s some people here tonight who are really an insult to the standards and traditions of Washington media. Lindsay, Kim: we’re sorry you have to sit at the Fox News table.”

-”Given the pettiness, fighting, and criminal activity, you’d think Washington was more of a Basketball Wives town.”

What do you think: is it hypocritical for Van Susteren to bring Lohan and Kardashian to the White House?
