The Nike Basketball Elite Series Drops Just In Time For The 2012 NBA Playoffs
Can you believe that it’s already time for the 2012 NBA Playoffs? It feels like the 2011-2012 NBA season just kicked off on Christmas Day (speaking of, can you believe Christmas was four months ago?!) and now we’re already watching the first round of the playoffs. The 66-game schedule certainly flew by this season.
And, now that the NBA playoffs have started, you know what that means: It’s time for playoff basketball! Whereas some teams show up some nights during the regular season and seemingly took others off to give players a chance to recover more quickly, the NBA Playoffs features basketball the way it’s supposed to be played. There will be tough, hard-nosed defense. There will be superstars making big shots and doing everything they can to lead to their teams to victory. And, of course, there will be a whole bunch of signature sneakers dropping in new colorways and special “playoff” editions for the games. It just wouldn’t be playoff time without playoff sneakers!
Nike is doing something extra special this season and rolling out a bunch of new sneakers for their superstars as part of the Nike Basketball Elite Series. Inspired by the Larry O’Brien Trophy that’s given to the team that wins the NBA Finals, there will be new home and away editions of the Nike LeBron 9, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII, and the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk. They feature Nike’s patented Flywire, Kevlar, carbon fiber, and a touch of gold on the Swoosh logo. And they’re supposed to invoke the feeling of winning a championship.
Only problem? They’re all going to be relatively expensive (the LeBrons, for instance, are selling for as much as $300). However, they will look nice out on the court. So, if you’re spending your weekend like we are and sitting in front of the TV watching the playoffs, look out for them. Or, check out images of the sneakers below. Would you cop them?
