Beyonce: Fake Baby Bump Rumors Weren’t Hurtful, “Just Crazy”

Submitted by on April 30, 2012 – 7:28 pm2 Comments

Many conspiracy theories dogged Beyonce Knowles during her pregnancy with now 3-month-old Blue Ivy Carter, including allegations that her baby bump was fake. Fuel was added to the fake baby bump fire when her belly appeared to collapse on an Australian talk show back in October. With the exception of an interview with Katie Couric late last year, the music superstar remained pretty much mum on the topic throughout her pregnancy and since then. But in her interview with PEOPLE for the mag’s World’s Most Beautiful issue (in which she was named World’s Most Beautiful Woman), Mrs. Jay-Z addressed the hoopla surrounding what should have been the happiest time of her life. She said of the rumors:

“That was crazy. It wasn’t hurtful, it was just crazy [I thought] ‘Where did they come up with this?’”

Addressing the incident on the Australian talk show, Beyonce said:

“It was a fabric that folded — does fabric not fold? Oh my gosh, so stupid.”

As for how she dealt with the rumors, Beyonce said:

“There was so much love and well wishes from all over the world — it made it easier to deal with the stupid rumors.”

Now that Blue Ivy is here, conspiracy theorists are saying that she’s carrying around a doll in the baby sling she’s been photographed wearing. I’ve pretty much concluded that even if she presented the world with a DNA test and the doctor that delivered Blue, people would still have something to say.
