Ashton Kutcher Joins The World Wide Lovers Dating Website
It seemed innocent enough.
As the new spokesperson for Pop Chips, Ashton Kutcher took advantage of his new single status recently and filmed five viral videos for the fictional dating website WorldWideLovers.com. Impersonating a hippie, a trucker, a Karl Lagerfield dopplehanger (our favorite), a Bollywood producer and, finally, himself, the actor tells the camera what he is looking for in a lady. And, while the videos are definitely hilarious, they left a sour taste in the mouths of some fans who took to Twitter to criticize Kutcher and Pop Chips for using a white actor to impersonate an Indian character.
In light of the controversy, Pop Chips released the following statement: “The new popchips worldwide dating video and ad campaign featuring four characters was created to provoke a few laughs and was never intended to stereotype or offend anyone. At popchips we embrace all types of shapes, flavors and colors, and appreciate all snackers, no matter their race or ethnicity. We hope people can enjoy this in the spirit it was intended.”
Check out the viral video. Do you find the videos offensive or just off-the-charts funny?

Cute video! I can’t believe that anyone would take umbrage over the portrayal of the Bollywood character! He said and did nothing offensive and it’s a far cry fro Jolson appearing in black-face in “The Jazz Singer”–besides which these “fans” on twitter have probably never heard of anyway. Seriously! I suppose it’s ok for him to portray the other stereotypes because they share the same or similar skin shades? Honestly—LIGHTEN UP!
Watch this and lighten up Lori !
