A new trailer for the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield was released today, giving us our closest look yet at the hero’s mission, and his enemy, The Lizard.

The Lizard is of course Dr. Chuck Connors (sorry, but that shouldn’t have been a spoiler). But audiences hadn’t yet gotten a good look at the doctor’s reptilian form.

I’m actually looking forward to Connors- he’s shaping up to be a complex villain, and actor Rhys Ifans is really growing as a distinguished dramatic actor after playing mostly oddball slackers early in his career.

The moody voice over also clued us in that this film will really focus on Parker’s search for the truth about his parent’s disappearance (as opposed to his crime fighting). I got a little nervous when I heard someone ask Peter, “Do you have any idea what you really are?” I thought, “Uh oh. Has director Marc Webb drunk the Michael Bay Kool Aid and decided Spidey is an alien?” I hope not.
