Spike Lee Gets His Own Custom “NYC” Nike Foamposite One
Looking for Spike Lee? Well, you’ll be able to catch him front and center at the New York Knicks playoff game on Sunday against the Miami Heat at Madison Square Garden in New York City. And, there’s no doubt that Spike will be in rare form. With the Knicks in danger of getting swept in their best-of-7 series, Spike is going to have to do all that he can to will his team to a win tonight. So, he’ll be cheering hard, yelling at the Heat, and, in all likelihood, rocking a pair of these custom “NYC” Nike Foamposite One sneakers that were designed with the royal blue and orange Knicks colorway. They were created specifically for Spike by Marc Dolce, the lead designer for NSW Basketball.
“Growing up in Brooklyn, I was always a big New York sports fan, too,” Dolce said earlier this week. “I went to Pratt for college and remember passing Spike’s store and offices in Fort Greene everyday. The ’90s were a great time to be a basketball fan in New YUork, and Spike was a huge part of the energy surrounding the Knicks. To thank him for his time with Nike and his time as a Knicks fan, these were done as a special gift to Spike from Gentry Humphrey, Georges Labossiere, and myself.”
As you can see by checking out the images of the sneaker, these will compliment a Knicks fitted and a jersey perfectly. With plenty of royal blue and orange to go around, they’d make an ideal gift for any Knicks fan. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to get your hands on a pair of them because these were created with Spike in mind and are one-of-ones (for now, at least). But, that doesn’t make them any less dope. Make sure you check for Spike sitting courtside and rocking these. And, try not to hate him too much for doing it, okay?
