Hit The Campaign Trail With Will Ferrell And Zach Galifianakis
Just in time for election season, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis will star as rival North Carolina congressional candidates in The Campaign, coming in August. The first teasers were released this week, disguised as campaign ads for candiates Cam Brady and Marty Huggins, respectively.
At first glance, it seems like this might be more screwball comedy than political satire- I couldn’t even really tell which party each candidate is supposed to represent. Ferrell’s performance sounds like his iconic George W. Bush impersonation, and his ad is littered with flags and eagles, but that haircut is John Edwards all the way. And maybe Galifianakis’ Huggins has some Tea Party anti-incumbent sentiment?
(Interesting note: Galifianakis is the nephew of Nick Galifianakis, a former representative and Senate candidate from North Carolina.)
What do you think? Will The Campaign give the political process a good tweaking?
