The Sequel To Kick-Ass Is On Its Way
Kick-Ass, The Mike Millar-John Romita, Jr. comic book series-turned-movie by Matthew Vaughn, is getting a sequel.
Kick-Ass 2 is on its way, as reported by Heat Vision, and will feature the characters that survived the original film including Aaron Johnson (who played Kick-Ass), Chloe Moretz (Hit-Girl) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Red Mist).
Vaughn directed, produced and self-financed the action movie, which was distributed by Lionsgate and grossed $96 million worldwide on a budget of $30 million. He is only producing the sequel, but has handpicked Jeff Wadlow, who helmed 2008’s Never Back Down, to direct.
Vaughn wrote the script for the project, which adapts not only Kick-Ass 2, the recent comic miniseries, but also the spinoff Hit-Girl, which is due in stores next month. The Hit-Girl storyline will be the first act of the movie, according to sources.
For those who either read the comic book or have seen the movie, this is great news. The comic was awesome and the film adaptation was pretty damn good as well. The film is scheduled to start filming in September.
Yeah, I’m excited.
