First Trailer For The Mindy Project Starring Mindy Kaling
Hot on the heels of the series’ announcement, Fox has released a first trailer for The Mindy Project staring Mindy Kaling, and it looks damn promising. The series will feature Kaling as an OB/GYN trying to navigate love and work at the same time.
First of all, let me say that being excited about this does not diminish me as a man in any way. I mean, Kaling could throw me a bone by changing the Kelly Clarkson-esque soundtrack… but I digress.
Second, I was very excited to see a series that’s single-camera, and not in a shaky, mockumentary style. After listening to overenthusiastic studio audiences on mediocre shows about young women like Whitney and 2 Broke Girls, it’s a relief to see Kaling’s zany style balanced with almost cinematic visuals.
The same goes for the acting- I saw a few actors (Bill Hader, Ed Helms, and Kaling herself) looking more subtle and genuine than ever, and it made the laughs all the more heartfelt. Also, the show looks like it will lean away from the awkward, misanthropic (i.e. mean) central characters that seem to have dominated comedy lately.
What do you think? Will you be tuning in for The Mindy Project?
