First Look: Ashton Kutcher Transforms Into Steve Jobs For The Upcoming Biopic, Jobs

Shortly after the passing of luminary Steve Jobs in October 2011, many were shocked when it was announced that Ashton Kutcher would play the Apple co-founder in the upcoming indie film, Jobs. Known for playing kooky and often superficial characters,  the 34-year-old Two and a Half Men star was not the obvious choice in fans’ mind to embody the visionary. But, Kutcher and Jobs have a lot more in common than one may think.

Not only do the two bear an uncanny resemblance, but Kutcher has proven to have a knack for recognizing a smart start-up when he sees it. In the past, he’s invested in companies like Skype, FourSquare, and Fab.com before they made it big. Another man that believes in Kuthcher’s ability to play the Apple head honcho, who died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56, is Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

“There is probably little I can say, other than expressing my belief that this will be a great and popular film,” Wozniak said in a statement. “As to the role of Steve Jobs, I have little to say. Everyone has their own idea of who they think could play Steve the best. But when we started Apple at our young ages, I decided not to put my nose and comments into every aspect of the company, like the color of boxes or the job responsibilities for a team. I would not step on the toes of people who had done these jobs for many years or decades. I would just do my engineering where I could not fail. So I look at the casting agencies and directors who are experts at casting. I trust that they considered all the relevant factors and made the best selection. The fear that many might have is that Ashton was selected because he’s ‘hot’ right now. But I feel that his selection was done in the most professional manner. And I’m glad that he’s onboard.”

Take a first look at Ashton on set of the biopic in Jobs’ iconic black turtleneck. Do you think Ashton is the right man for the  job?
