The Internet strikes again! Actor Robin Williams was the subject of a vicious hoax as rumors circulated that he had died after falling off a mountain in Austria over the weekend. (The rumor was also probably spurred on by the actual death of another famous Robin, Bee Gee’s member Robin Gibb.) In reality, Williams is alive and well, and has just signed on for the star-studded film, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn.

The cast at this point also includes Mila Kunis, James Earl Jones, Melissa Leo, and Peter Dinklage. Perhaps fittingly for Williams, the movie centers around a man who has been misinformed about his own death: a doctor mistakenly tells the man that he has only 90 minutes to live. The poor patient then tears about New York, as the doctor tries to catch up with him.

I was surprised to see so many marquee names signed on to a film by a writer and director with whom I’m not so familiar. Screenwriter Daniel Taplitz‘s highest-profile project before this was the Jamie Foxx rom-com Breaking All The Rules; and director Phil Alden Robinson hasn’t had much output since the 1989 classic Field Of Dreams. But according to Collider, Taplitz’s script has won many admirers.

“I read the script and said, ‘wow!’” Williams reportedly said. “I love the fact that it’s so fun and honest.”
