MTV To Turn Wes Craven’s Scream Into TV Series
In the 90′s, Wes Craven‘s Scream movies redefined horror. They were clever and resonated with a generation that was over the campy slasher flick. Scream ushered in a new era of film. Unfortunately, when Scream 4 was released last year, nobody cared. Well, a few people cared. But a total gross of $40 million dollars doomed the series to the pits of obscurity.
Leave it to MTV to snatch up another popular film and turn it into a TV series. Just like they did with Teen Wolf, MTV will turn Scream into a series for the network. Could it work? Perhaps. Teen Wolf went from soupy comedy to dramatic TV series under MTV’s watchful eye. Considering that horror shows have become the new go-to for networks (American Horror Story, for instance), it might not be such a bad idea to resurrect the concept as a series.
It’s not yet known whether or not Craven will be attached to the series in any way. Maybe they could find the old cast and bring them back together. It’s not like they’re doing anything anyway.

i heard that the show is based on Kirby after Scream4
Scream 4 did well overseas – the overseas dollars and the 40mil Scream 4 made 97 million…not too shabby…there should still be a Scream 5
