And they called it puppy love.

Pop princess Miley Cyrus, 19, and her beau of three years, Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, 22,  are engaged to be married. “I’m so happy to be engaged,” Cyrus told People magazine, “and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.”

On Twitter she added: “Thank you for all the love today. I’m happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true.”

The “Party in the U.S.A.” singer  is readying to plan a wedding party after the Australian actor popped the question on May 31 and presented Miley with a 3.5-karat Neil Lane diamond ring.

According to Lane, Miley’s ring is a “3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. And the center stone is extra special: it’s an antique dating back to the late 19th century. In designing a ring, I always bring my design aesthetics to the table while working with the clients’ vision. It’s always a collaboration. The antique diamond is from my collection. I love using these kinds of stones in my work creating contemporary designs with a vintage feel.”

Cyrus met Hemsworth when the duo filmed the 2009 film, The Last Song. The attraction was obvious on and off-screen and the duo started secretly dating during filming. Although the couple briefly split in August 2010, they have since been inseparable. Hemsworth opened up about falling for his co-star on the set of the Nicholas Sparks film in an 2012 interview with Details.

“What happened happened, and we’ve been together two and a half years,” he confessed to the magazine. “She makes me really happy. When you start, you want to be professional, but when you’re filming those scenes with someone and pretending to love them, you’re not human if you don’t feel something.”
