Whitney Houston’s Mom Accused Of Exploiting Her Death
The members of Whitney Houston‘s family that were closest to her, including her mom Cissy, sister-in-law Pat Houston, and daughter Bobbi Kristina, haven’t exactly made the best PR decisions in the months since her shocking death. Whether it be Pat and Bobbi Kristina’s decision to sit down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey (although Bobbi Kris remained standing for her brief chitchat with the talk show queen, but you know what I mean) a mere month after Whitney died by accidental drowning in the bathtub in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, or the trio’s decision to film a reality show, their attempts to grab the spotlight for themselves so soon after the pop culture icon’s death have been met with great criticism from her fans. In the latest chapter of this ongoing saga, Cissy is being accused of “pulling a Joe Jackson” by agreeing to write a tell-all about her experiences as Whitney’s mom, and the accusations are being levied by other members of the Houston family! According to TMZ:
“Whitney Houston’s mom is pulling a Joe Jackson — cashing in on her child’s tragic death … that’s what some family members think of Cissy Houston’s plans to write a tell-all book.
Sources close to the Houston family tell TMZ … Cissy’s new publishing deal with Harper-Collins for a memoir is merely a lame attempt to make money — since Whitney left everything to Bobbi Kristina — and not at all about honoring the late singer.
One source said the book — which is slated for release next year — could also be a PR move for Cissy, claiming … ‘She will try to come out looking like the world’s greatest mom, when in actuality, she wasn’t.’”
Whatever happened to the mourning process? Whatever happened to mourning privately? Whitney did leave everything to Bobbi Kris, so the accusation that Cissy is trying to break off a little something for herself isn’t that far-fetched. Harper-Collins has revealed that the as-yet-untitled memoir is scheduled for release on Feb. 15, 2013. Are you interested in reading it?
