The Nike Air Jordan 7 Retro Celebrates Michael Jordan’s “Olympic” Greatness
Were you lucky enough to cop the Nike Air Jordan 4 “Military Blue” sneakers over the weekend? With all eyes glued on the Nike Air Yeezy II, we hope you did. Those sneakers are going to be great for the summertime. But, they’re obviously not the only Js you should be focused on this summer. In fact, the sneakers you see here might just be the best Air Jordan retro sneaker dropping this summer. And, outside of looking good, it’s got a great story behind it that makes it the perfect pickup for any Jordan fan.
If you’re not familiar with the Nike Air Jordan 7 pictured here, it’s the “Olympic” version of the AJ VII and it’s the sneaker that Michael Jordan wore when he played with the “Dream Team” at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Just two years after Nike released it in a retro version that had a “For The Love Of The Game” logo on the heel, they’re releasing it again to help Jordan fans celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Dream Team. So, this time, it features Jordan’s Olympic jersey #9 on the heel. It also features gold accents throughout the sneaker and hits of red, white, and blue that make it look very patriotic. It’s a fitting tribute to MJ and the 1992 Olympic basketball team.
As of right now, Nike is planning to release these on July 21, right before the 2012 Summer Olympics kick off in London. They’ll run you $160 and will be available in all sizes. We know you’re probably suffering from sneaker fatigue right now because of the release of the Yeezy IIs. But, do yourself a favor and make sure you’ve got the release date for these on the calendar. They’re must-haves for any true MJ fan who wants to celebrate one of his greatest accomplishments.
