See the logo above? That’s the adidas Originals iconic Trefoil logo. And, this year, it officially turns 40 years old. That’s right. For the last 40 years, the Trefoil logo has been embroidered across the tongues of sneakers. It’s been splashed across the front of T-shirts. And, it’s come to represent the adidas Originals line of clothing and sneakers in pop culture. So, it’s only right that adidas celebrates the Trefoil logo with a very, very special release.

They’re not going to celebrate the anniversary with a special sneaker, though. They’re not going to release a commemorative T-shirt, either. But, they’re most definitely not going to just let the 40th anniversary of the Trefoil watch go by without mentioning it. So, they’ve decided to do something different to celebrate the year 1972 when the Trefoil was first unveiled. They’ve created this special 40th Anniversary Trefoil Watch. The watch, which features a solid steel base with gold plating, has the words “YEAR OF THE TREFOIL” underneath the year “1972″ in order to point out the significance of the creation of the Trefoil. The watch also has a polished finish to make it look extra commemorative.

If you’re interested in helping adidas Originals celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Trefoil logo—and you’ve got about 400 bucks to spare—the watch is available for pre-order through the Watch Station right now. Or, you can wait and cop yours from the adidas Originals website on Saturday, June 16. Either way, you’re probably going to want to act fast. Only 500 of these will be sold and each one will come specially numbered on the dial of the watch. So, if you’re a big fan of adidas Originals, go ahead and put yours on hold now. It’s the least you can do to pay homage to one of the most iconic sneaker logos in the game. It’s time to show it some love.
