Beyoncé Finally Reveals The Meaning Of The Name Blue Ivy
Often associated with a shade for the fellas or signifying the birth of a bouncing baby boy, blue has come to symbolize the sky and ocean and can often mean sadness (“I’m feeling blue”) or something unexpected (“That came out of the blue”). With that being said, many were surprised when one of the most famous couples in America, we’re talking about Beyoncé and Jay-Z, named their DAUGHTER Blue Ivy.
For months we’ve pondered what the meaning of the pop diva’s daughter’s name could be and after much speculation we finally have a much needed clue. On her personal Tumblr page, King Bey posted a poem penned by Rebecca Solnit from the book titled A Field Guide to Getting Lost. The poem which begins with the words, “Water is colorless, shallow water appears to be the color of whatever lies underneath,” and goes on to describe the color blue as representing the light and beauty of the world that we so often do not see.
