Just How Devilish is 666 Park Avenue?
Is it just me, or is prime time television taking a bold stance against Christianity these days? First, there was (the surprisingly not too bad) GCB – which originally stood for Good Christian B**ches and now there’s 666 Park Avenue. Both shows were developed by ABC and both were based on novels. Hmm…
Apocalyptic implications aside, 666 Park Avenue is a new drama making its way to ABC which features a talented ensemble cast. That cast includes Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable, Rachael Taylor, and Mercedes Masohn.
The show centers around The Drake, an incredibly luxurious apartment building in New York City, which becomes home to new office managers (and lovers) Henry Martin and Jane Van Veen (Annable and Taylor, respectively). What they come to find is that the building, actually located at 999 Park Avenue, has quite a dangerous and demonic history.
The owner and his wife (played by Williams) are leaders of a Satanic cult, and they fulfill the desires of the tenants in return for their souls, seducing and bribing their way into the lives of all who dwell at The Drake. Of course, this is a premise that should make for suspense, horror, special effects, and more.
With Illuminati accusations popping up left and right about celebrities and politicians alike, is this really the way to go for a new TV series? Is there something more sinister at work here, like the desensitizing of viewers to all things Satanic, or is this just entertainment?
We’ll leave you to judge these things for yourselves, but I will predict right now that this show will not do well at all in the Bible Belt. 666 Park Avenue is set to air Sundays this fall at 10:00 pm ET.
