When Derrick Rose got knocked out of the 2012 NBA Playoffs, it looked like adidas was going to stop pushing the adiZero Rose 2.5 sneakers as hard as they were. Now that the face of the sneaker was sidelined for the remainder of the season—and, possibly, all of next season—what was the point in pushing them any further? In fact, we even saw images of the adiZero Rose 3.0 start to pop up all over the Internet. So, we didn’t expect much more from the adiZero Rose 2.5. But, thankfully, we were wrong as it doesn’t look like adidas is done with the adiZero Rose 2.5s just yet.

We’re not talking about new colorways here, either. We’re talking about a new low version of the adiZero Rose 2.5 that we really didn’t see coming. Thanks to all the love that other low-top sneakers have been getting lately—in particular, the Nike LeBron 9—adidas decided to put together a pair of their own low-top sneakers for their superstar athlete. Available in a white colorway with black and red accents and a black colorway with red and white accents, the Rose 2.5 Low sneakers look pretty solid. We’d even go out on a limb and say that, without ever holding them in our hands, they’re even doper than the high-top version of the same sneaker that Rose wore all season.

Unfortunately, we don’t have any definitive release information yet. We’re not sure how much these will set you back, where they’ll be available, or when they’ll be dropping. But, we’re definitely going to keep these things on our radar. Because, while D-Rose may not be coming back to the court anytime soon, we’ll still be picking up a pair of these as soon as we can get our hands on them. Way to stick with the Roses 2.5s, adidas. Good call.
